WHEN WAS YOUR LAST CUP OF COFFEE?
How did you make it? Cream, sugar, chickoree, syrup, black?
No matter how you take it, someone had to grow it.
That may seem obvious, but we have taken that little truth to heart. See,we realized that coffee may be a morning essential or and afternoon treat for us, but it is hard work for some one else. It doesn’t just fall out of the sky. Growing coffee is hard work, and it tends to grow best in countries that are less developed their our own. People much worse off than you and me are working long hours and not getting paid enough. In the coffee business big companies tend to make lots of money on the backs of farmers on the ground. It’s just the way the industry is set up. Fair Trade has tried to help, but we found that it still comes up short of a real living wage.
Enter Credo Coffee.
Holy Cross Lutheran Ministries and Downtown Credo have partnered with Ken Rembert and Hope Bible Mission to pay coffee growers in the La Perla region of Guatemala a living wage for their great coffee. See with the simple act of buying coffee for your week we have the option to turn blind eye, or bless and serve.
